Cheesy Food of the Gods - Poutine

Updated: Jan 6, 2018

Hands down the best food we have eaten in Canada. Made with cheese, hot chips and gravy. The best one we have had came with added pulled pork - YUMMM.

While most of the food available in Vancouver has been similar to back home, the special Canadian dish of Poutine has been a stand out. It is hard not to enjoy a meal made from two of most peoples comfort foods, cheese and hot chips. We think it is especially enticing at this time of year, being winter across Canada makes it cold, and Poutine warms your soul.

The traditional version is served as hot chips loaded with cheese curds and hot gravy making it all melt into one perfect mess. Of course being located in one of the largest cities in Canada we have had the luxury to see many a twist on this local favourite. The best that we have tasted so far was from a food truck on New Years Eve at the Vancouver Street Party. Our chips were lathered in cheese and gravy with a hearty dose of hot pulled pork. This melt in your mouth meal was served in take away boxes allowing your taste buds to be excited as you ate it and your hands warmed on a foggy and cold night.

We would definitely recommend you try Poutine if you are ever in Canada and may even try making some ourselves at home.
