Autumn Leaves

We have been in Canada just over 2 months now. It is coming into the depths of winter and all of the trees have lost their leaves. This got me thinking about all the beautiful autumn leaves we were able to experience in "fall". The richness of colour and transition between bright golds through to deep blood red is mesmerising.

Just walking down the street and seeing the beauty of the world and nature has been rewarding. It's encouraged us to explore on foot much more of Vancouver then we otherwise would have seen. Stanley Park and the trees that line the local streets make you look up from the footpath and smile.

The tree above showcases the ombre effect of the leaves as they change through the stages before they fall to the ground. Coming from Australia I had never fully understood the concept of fall, now I can definitely see why they have named the whole season after this phenomenon. Its not just the vibrant colours its the footpaths covered in leaves, the nightly news reminding you to get out and sweep them up before it rains and they turn into a slippery mess.

Magic canopies make walking underneath them seem romantic and the colours just put a smile on your face. I don't think we will ever forget the colours of the season that was our introduction to Canada.
