Science World

Today was a day that I had been waiting a long time for. It was the day we visited Science World in Vancouver. Everyday we pass it on the train on our way into work. It is a huge sphere which lights up at night.

We caught the train to the Main Street - Science World stop and decided that we were famished. This meant a quick detour to the nearby Maccas for a breaky feast. It was pouring with rain and every man and his dog was inside the enormous fast food joint trying to get some warmth. We ordered and found a cosy little table and ate our brunch.

Once we had eaten we headed across the road to Science World. We paid our entry fee and got little stamps on our hand to let us in. The first room we went into was all about sustainability and had some fun water gun games as well as a game to test your concept of time. The game involved you hitting a button to start and then when you think 10 seconds has elapsed to hit the same button again. It then displays how long you waited and gives you a fun fact associated with the time. Below is a photo of Brendans fun fact.

After exploring the eco area we then explored the noise area which was super interactive. We were able to create a mini tornado and touch it as well as watch lots of children play in the water exhibits. The last thing to do in this exhibit was to lift a hippo off the ground. It was all about leverage and angles. Feeling like big kids both of us had a go and managed to get him off the ground, tho it wasn't as easy as it looked!!

There were many more exhibits and the highlights from these were the human body section where you could age your own face and play a computer game called "get the sperm to the egg". The very last exhibit that we went to was "Ripley's believe it or not". Here we were able to take photos in Sharks mouths and with our favourite transformer!

We had a lot of fun at Science World and definitely recommend it for anyone visiting Vancouver who is a little bit nerdy like us!
