Calgary Zoo Lights

This week (the first week in December 2018) we went to the Calgary Zoo to see its annual Christmas lights. It was one of the last things we wanted to do before we left Calgary. Seeing as we are leaving this week we had to take our only night home together and go. It was definitely worth it!

When we were in Vancouver we had opted to see a lights display at Van Dusen Garden Christmas lights, this was almost 12 months to the day that we went to visit the lights at the Calgary Zoo and what we were comparing our experience to. The Calgary Zoo lights were more spread out but equally as good and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

It never occurred to us that the lights would be in animal shapes but being a zoo they had different animal lights in different sections of the Zoo and it was set up really well. There were even some Dinosaur light displays which Brendan loved! To keep people warm in the chilly cold Calgary air there were giant fire pits to stand around and warm up any cold fingers or backsides. They also have an ice skating rink and because it had snowed earlier that day the whole places was a winter wonderland.

So we bought a coffee, strolled through the zoo, admired the lights display and generally soaked up the experience. If you are ever in Calgary at Christmas this is a definite must do.
